1. About These Terms
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Recommend & Share platform, accessible at app.recommendandshare.com. By creating a profile on the platform you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the platform.
The platform is operated by Recommend & Share Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.
2. Who Can Use the Platform
You must be at least 18 years old to create a profile on Recommend & Share. By registering you confirm that you are 18 or over and that the information you provide is accurate and truthful.
The platform is available to homeowners and tradespeople based in the United Kingdom.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your profile information. You can update your details at any time from your profile settings.
You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your profile. You must not share your login credentials with anyone else or allow anyone else to access your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or remove any profile that we believe has been created fraudulently, contains inaccurate information, or has been used in breach of these terms.
4. Verification
Verification on Recommend & Share is handled through Stripe, a third party identity verification provider. By submitting to verification you agree to Stripe's terms and conditions in addition to these terms.
Verification links your profile permanently to your identity document — your passport or driving licence. This link remains in place regardless of any changes to your contact details or profile information, and regardless of whether your profile is active or suspended.
Each mobile number and email address may only be registered to one profile on the platform. The system will not permit the creation of a second profile using details already associated with an existing profile, whether active or suspended.
5. Digital Commitments
A Digital Commitment is a formal record of an agreed piece of work between a tradesperson and a homeowner. Both parties must have an active profile on the platform to create and accept a Commitment.
By accepting a Digital Commitment both parties confirm that the details entered — including scope of work, cost, timescale, and payment terms — accurately reflect what has been agreed between them.
All updates, changes, and communications within a Commitment are time-stamped and retained as a permanent record on the platform.
Neither party may misrepresent the terms of a Commitment or enter false or misleading information into a Commitment.
6. Mutual Recommendations
Both parties are required to leave a Mutual Recommendation upon completion of a job. A Mutual Recommendation constitutes a permanent record of the experience from both sides — regardless of outcome.
Either party may submit their Mutual Recommendation at any point following job completion. Mutual Recommendations are permanent once submitted and may not be edited or deleted under any circumstances.
If no Mutual Recommendation has been submitted by either party within 7 days of job completion, a positive recommendation will be automatically recorded on that party's behalf.
If you believe a Mutual Recommendation left on your profile is unfair or inaccurate, you may contact us to request a review. We will assess all disputes against the documented Commitment — the agreed scope, communications, and timeline. We reserve the right to make a final determination on all disputed recommendations.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the platform to:

Post false, misleading, or defamatory content

Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity

Harass, threaten, or abuse any other user

Attempt to manipulate or circumvent the platform's trust and verification systems

Enter false or misleading information into a Digital Commitment

Use the platform for any unlawful purpose

Breach of any of the above may result in immediate suspension or permanent removal of your profile. We reserve the right to take such action at our sole discretion. Where a breach is serious or poses a risk to other users, we reserve the right to act without prior notice.
8. Suspension and Removal of Profiles
If your profile is suspended it will be removed from public view. Other users will not be able to find or access it. Your data will be retained securely in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
If you choose to leave the platform your profile will be suspended and removed from public view. Your data will be retained in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the legal basis set out therein.
If you return to the platform after leaving, your full profile history — including all Commitments and Mutual Recommendations — will be reinstated.
9. Intellectual Property
The Recommend & Share platform — including its design, structure, code, branding, and functionality — is the intellectual property of Recommend & Share Ltd and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, copy, adapt, or distribute any part of the platform without our express written permission.
You retain ownership of the information you submit to the platform, including your profile details, Digital Commitment entries, and Mutual Recommendations. By submitting this information you grant Recommend & Share Ltd a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and use that information solely for the purpose of operating the platform and providing its services to users.
10. Limitation of Liability
Recommend & Share Ltd provides the platform as a trust infrastructure tool. We are not a party to any agreement made between a tradesperson and a homeowner, and we accept no liability for the conduct, performance, or outcomes of any job carried out between users of the platform.
We do not guarantee the accuracy of any information submitted by users on the platform, including profile details, Digital Commitment entries, or Mutual Recommendations. Users are responsible for conducting their own due diligence before entering into any agreement with another user.
Whilst we take reasonable steps to verify user identities through Stripe, whose advanced AI, biometric checks, and manual review processes represent some of the most rigorous identity verification available, no verification system can provide an absolute guarantee. We accept no liability for losses arising from fraudulent or misrepresented identities that have passed through the verification process.
We accept no liability for the acts, omissions, or conduct of any third party service providers used in connection with the platform, including Stripe.
We do not guarantee that the platform will be available at all times or free from interruption, error, or technical failure. We accept no liability for any loss or inconvenience arising from downtime or unavailability of the platform.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Recommend & Share Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, incidental, or special loss arising from your use of the platform, regardless of how that loss arises.
11. Force Majeure
Recommend & Share Ltd shall not be liable for any failure or delay in the operation of the platform arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to cyberattacks, server failures, internet outages, natural disasters, or acts of government.
12. Indemnification
You are responsible for your own conduct on the platform. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Recommend & Share Ltd, its directors, employees, and representatives from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses — including legal costs — arising from your use of the platform, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of any third party rights.
13. Accuracy of Registration Information
By creating a profile you confirm that all information provided, including your age, is accurate and truthful. If you provide false information in order to access the platform, any liability arising from that access rests solely with you.
14. Dispute Resolution
In the event of any dispute arising from your use of the platform, you agree to contact us in the first instance at info@recommendandshare.com to seek resolution before initiating any legal proceedings. We will endeavour to respond to all complaints within 14 days.
15. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. We will notify users of any material changes. Continued use of the platform following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from your use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
