1. About This Policy
This policy explains the standards we expect from all users of the Recommend & Share platform in relation to Mutual Recommendations and identity verification. It sets out what is and is not acceptable, how we handle disputes, and what happens when these standards are not met.
This policy should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
2. The Purpose of Mutual Recommendations
Mutual Recommendations are the foundation of trust on the Recommend & Share platform. They exist to give both tradespeople and homeowners a permanent, honest record of their experience of working together.
Unlike conventional review platforms where only one side has a voice, Mutual Recommendations capture both sides of every job. This means the full picture is always on record — protecting tradespeople from unfair or dishonest feedback and protecting homeowners from misrepresentation.
3. Standards for Mutual Recommendations
All Mutual Recommendations must be:
-
Honest — based on your genuine experience of the job
-
Accurate — reflecting what actually happened, not what you wished had happened
-
Fair — taking into account all relevant factors before submitting
-
Relevant — relating specifically to the job documented in the Digital Commitment
Mutual Recommendations must not:
-
Contain false or deliberately misleading information
-
Be defamatory, abusive, or threatening in nature
-
Reference matters unrelated to the job documented in the Commitment
-
Be submitted with the intention of damaging another user's reputation unfairly
-
Be submitted as retaliation for a recommendation received
4. Permanent Record
Mutual Recommendations are permanent once submitted. They may not be edited or deleted under any circumstances. This is fundamental to the integrity of the platform — the value of a Mutual Recommendation comes from the fact that it cannot be altered after the fact.
If no Mutual Recommendation has been submitted by either party within 7 days of job completion, a positive recommendation will be automatically recorded on that party's behalf. This reflects the fact that a completed job with no complaint is generally a positive outcome for both sides.
5. Disputing a Mutual Recommendation
If you believe a Mutual Recommendation left on your profile is unfair, inaccurate, or in breach of the standards set out in section 3 of this policy, you may contact us to request a review at info@recommendandshare.com.
When reviewing a dispute we will assess the recommendation against:
-
The documented Digital Commitment — including the agreed scope of work, cost, timescale, and payment terms
-
The Commitment Changes History — including all updates, communications, and time-stamped records within the Commitment
-
The standards set out in this policy
We will endeavour to respond to all dispute requests within 14 days. Recommend & Share Ltd reserves the right to make a final determination on all disputed recommendations. Where a recommendation is found to be in breach of this policy it may be removed from the platform.
6. Misuse of Mutual Recommendations
Providing false, defamatory, or deliberately misleading information as part of the Mutual Recommendation process is a serious matter. It undermines the trust infrastructure that the platform is built on and causes real harm to other users.
Where we determine that a Mutual Recommendation has been provided in bad faith or in breach of this policy, we reserve the right to:
-
Remove the recommendation from the platform
-
Issue a formal warning to the user responsible
-
Suspend or permanently remove the profile of the user responsible
7. Identity Verification
Verification on Recommend & Share is handled through Stripe, whose advanced AI, biometric checks, and manual review processes represent some of the most rigorous identity verification available.
Verification links your profile permanently to your identity document — your passport or driving licence. This link is permanent and remains in place regardless of any changes to your contact details, profile information, or account status.
The purpose of verification is to ensure that every verified profile on the platform belongs to a real, identifiable person — and that accountability stays with that person permanently, not with the profile.
8. What Verified Status Means
A verified profile on Recommend & Share means:
-
The identity of the profile holder has been confirmed against a valid government issued identity document
-
The profile is permanently linked to that identity
-
The profile holder cannot create a second verified profile under the same identity
-
All Commitments, Mutual Recommendations, and platform activity associated with the profile are permanently linked to that verified person
Verified status is displayed on your profile and is visible to all other users. It signals to tradespeople, homeowners, and merchants that your identity has been confirmed and that your track record is genuine.
9. Unverified Profiles
Verification is not mandatory on Recommend & Share. However, unverified profiles are clearly identified as such and are visible to other users for exactly what they are — unverified.
On a platform built around trust, most users will choose not to engage with an unverified profile. We strongly encourage all users to verify their profile at the earliest opportunity.
10. Misrepresentation of Identity
Submitting false or fraudulent identity documents for verification is a serious breach of this policy and of our Terms & Conditions. Where we become aware of any attempt to misrepresent identity on the platform we will:
-
Immediately suspend the profile in question
-
Report the matter to the relevant authorities where appropriate
-
Permanently remove the profile from the platform
Each mobile number and email address may only be registered to one profile on the platform. Any attempt to create a second profile using details already associated with an existing profile will be flagged and blocked by the system.
11. Consequences of Breach
Breach of this policy may result in:
-
Formal warning
-
Temporary suspension of your profile
-
Permanent removal of your profile from the platform
-
Reporting to relevant authorities where the breach involves fraudulent or unlawful conduct
Recommend & Share Ltd reserves the right to take any of the above actions at its sole discretion. Where a breach is serious or poses a risk to other users, we reserve the right to act without prior notice.
12. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to update this Platform Integrity Policy at any time. We will notify users of any material changes where required. The current version of this policy is always available at recommendandshare.com/platform-integrity.
